12U Baseball Turkey Trot Runner Up

By Steve Headley 11/18/2020, 11:45am EST

Boys finished the season with some "Bling"

12U-Robertson Baseball finished their great Fall season with a runner up title in the Turkey Trot Tournament held in Richmond, VA.  Robertson had done well against local opponents in the CBA league and other tournament games.  This weekend they put all their hard work together and came home with some rings to celebrate the 2nd place finish.  They look to build on this success during winter workouts and come out ready in spring 2021.

16U-Headley Gold Runners Up

Team falls short in 1-0 game

Hughesville Hustle 16U-Headley played well in back to back weekends to find themselves in the Championship game in consecutive weeks.  As they looked to avenge their second place finish from the prior weekend and take home 1st this weekend they fell just short again.  Laci Wood took the mound in the championship game allowing on 1 run in 6 innings and striking out 6.  In addition to Laci's dominate pitching performance the defense was top notch all weekend and in especially in the "Ship".  Unfortunately even with a couple opportunities Hustle couldn't plate the runs they needed to finish on top.  Back to back second place finishes may not have been what the girls wanted, but it was a great way to end the season and head into winter workouts and be ready for summer 2021.

16U Headley Falls Short in 7th

Crown Trophy NIT Runners Up

Hugheville Hustle 16U-Headley came out ready to play this past weekend and the results showed.  The girls completed the weekend with a 4-1-1 record only allowing 2.6 runs per game and scoring 6.1 runs a game.  Every member of the team contributed on offense, defense or both for a great team effort.  16U-Headley played some tough games through Saturday and Sunday including the championship game on Sunday afternoon at Potomac Lakes Sports Complex.  The championship game was a nail bitter through the Bottom of the 6th with Hustle leading 2-1 going into the last inning, unfortunately they could not hold the lead and ended up losing to a great Leesburg Revolution team.  Even though the team fell short of their goal of first place, the team itself made huge strides in their game play and showed everyone on and off the field the hard work they have put in.  Pitching, great defense and timely hitting contributed to their overall success and they hope to build on that success as they head into their last Fall Tournament in Newport News, VA this weekend.
